Brian began his career in 1984 as an Investment Advisor for Lehman Brothers in Boston. He was quickly promoted to Vice President, making him the youngest to earn this title in the firm’s 150-year history. After nine successful years at Lehman Brothers, and as a Senior Vice President and member of the firm’s Chairman’s Council, Brian departed to help establish a Boston office for Oppenheimer & Company as a Senior Vice President of Investments. In 1998, Brian joined Morgan Stanley as Senior Vice President of Investments and advised on matters including equity investment strategies, portfolio design and retirement income strategies. In 2000, Brian was recognized as Morgan Stanley’s top revenue producer in all of New England and was appointed to the firm’s Chairman’s Council. In 2001 Brian opened a Boston office for Raymond James Financial Services and advised retail and institutional accounts as a Principal and Branch Manager and was named to the firm’s Director’s Council. In 2007, with over 20 years of successful investment experience, Brian launched Sterling Oak Asset Management, LLC, the sole Manager of Sterling Oak Partners, a Long/Short Investment Partnership. In the first 12 full months, the partnership returned over 72% and was named the Top Performing Fund in all categories by Barron’s for February 2009, and the #1 performing Long/Short Equity Fund by Barclay Hedge for June 2009. In 2009, in conjunction with Sterling Oak Partners, Brian founded Sterling Oak Advisors to offer the same institutional quality research and advice to Individuals and families. Sterling Oak Advisors is an SEC registered investment advisory firm and acts as a fiduciary to its clients customizing portfolios and retirement income strategies. Brian continues to serve as the firm’s President and Chief Investment Officer in Newton, Massachusetts. Brian has been featured in Forbes Magazine for his compelling stock selection and macro-thematic investing The magazine article highlighted three equity market ideas from Brian that generated significant appreciation: Louisiana Pacific (up 100% between August 2009 and April 2010), Orient Express Hotels (up 88% between August 2009 and April 2010), and Allot Communications (up 250% between August 2009 and February 2011) which generated acclaim for himself and his firm. Brian graduated from Northeastern University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance. He now lives in Dover, Massachusetts with his family and enjoys golfing, basketball, boating and skiing.
