Mr. Dowty graduated from Western Michigan University with a BS degree in 1967. Mr. Dowty started his career in the financial services profession in 1972. He developed and managed investment and commercial real estate during the high inflation times in the 1970’s.
In 1982, when interest rates were at an all time high, Mr. Dowty expanded his offerings to his clients to include bonds and other appropriate securities. He founded a Registered Investment Advisory firm, Associated Retirement Planners, Inc. in 1987 in order to offer direct investment management to his many clients.
He has achieved many industry designations culminating in the widely recognized CFA, Chartered Financial Analyst designation which he still maintains.
In 2010, he teamed up with Redhawk Wealth Advisors, Inc. in order to bring institutional level money management to his many clients.
He runs the Bear Overlay portfolio for Redhawk Wealth Advisors.
Along the way, he has sponsored many youth activities, such as College for Kids, and was a sponsoring Company for 3 years of the U. S. First Robot Contest founded by Segway inventor Dean Kamen. In this contest companies team up with high schools to develop a robot to compete at national venues such as Disney’s Epcot center in Florida. His company won the prestigious Motorola award for quality in this contest in 1995.
